A day of rest (sort of)

Saturday I decided that I needed a day without walking all over, so after going out and having a Full English Breakfast, consisting of 2 fried eggs, English bacon, a large sausage, a fried tomato, mushrooms and toast, I returned to the flat and let Glenn wander in the City. Day of rest, haha! Looking at my suitcase and our schedule I realised that some laundry needed to be done. There was a washer in the kitchen (the normal place for a washer) so I ran a load of clothes. Meanwhile I had a delicious lunch of a sandwich with Coronation Chicken and Prosecco. Coronation chicken is a cold curried chicken salad created for the luncheon following the Queen’s coronation in 1953. Then the wet clothes had to be taken to the nearby launderette to dry. Back to the flat, I worked on the blog until Glenn texted me to meet him at the local pub for dinner. That meant a total of four trips up and down the stairs and a lot of walking. So much for a day of rest!

Glenn visited St Paul’s Cathedral, St Clement Danes, the church of the Royal Air Force, went across the bridge from the Gherkin, down the river walk near the Shard and visited Southwark Cathedral. A great day in the City and on the South Bank of the Thames.
