Into the World of Blogging

Well, here's me jumping into the world of blogging. Being the multi-faceted person that I am, hopefully this will keep you coming back for more! Feeling more of a British subject than a natural American citizen, here is the kind of place that makes me feel whole: Southwark Cathedral.

This is the north transcept. Late Gothic period, it sits just south of the Thames River in London, a stone's throw away from the location of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. But English cathedrals are not all that makes me who I am.
A city girl, I married an outdoorsman who lives for whitewater rafting. Although this photo is not of whitewater, it is one of my favourites.

That's me, in the front of the raft, with my husband Glenn at the oars, not twenty feet away from this poor moose who was only trying to cross the river! Bad timing on his part, as our party of four rafts were floating downriver right where he wanted to cross. No zebra crossings on the river for the local wildlife.
But as you may have guessed, there is more to me than that! I love to cook and en
tertain, especially to cook Indian, Chinese, English (yes, it can be very interesting and tasty!), and to have friends for High Tea. Glenn and I are in an International Dinner Group that meets, or tries to meet, once a month, visiting a different country each time. We have hosted England (fancy that!), India, Norway and islands of the South Pacific (that I can remember), and are up next to host a 'visit' to Nepal. Not Nepalese food, but a treat from Germany, Schwartzwalder Kirsch Torte (Black Forest Cherry Cake).

But as you either know or saw on the 'About' page, Musician is listed at the top. I have spent most of my life as a professional musician, even getting a doctorate in conducting which I absolutely love. But a year ago I lost much of my hearing, and music is part of what I lost. So I have surrounded myself with the scribal arts (calligraphy and illumination) and am really enjoying participating in the SCA (Society for Creative Anacronism). My Scadian name is Lady Anne Elizabeth Morley; I was born in Norfolk, England on the 25th of December, 1556.
Perhaps that is enough (or more than enough???) for my first entry. More next time on Lady Anne and this whole Third Culture Kid thing.
